Propak Architectural Glazing are proud to announce the recent contract award of 8 bespoke fire rated internal doors for the Tea Building on Shoreditch High Street.
Steel profile – Using the Janisol Economy 60 profile, Propak, designed, manufactured, and installed 8 distinctive fire rated double doors. The Ecomony 60 profile is specially design for large-format, flush-fitted single and double-leaf door constructions as well as fixed glazing in indoor areas and boasts a 60 mm basic depth. The continuous shadow gaps on the inside and outside grant the flush-fitted door constructions an elegant appearance. With these particular door sets, the lower half of the doors incorporated a feature fire rated panelling alongside a heritage style lattice work. The doors themselves have a steel, hot dipped galvanised finish, ensuring they are in keeping with the aesthetics and industrial warehouse style of the building. Coupled with E30 glass, the doors meet the smoke protection to DIN 18065 and EN1634-3 in accordance with EN14351-1.
Bespoke Handles – A particular design requirement for these doors was a bespoke oak pull handle, the handle itself is made from solid Oak and Steel, and offer the push/pull system as required. The wood work was carried out in-house and manufactured by our meticulous fabrication team.
Installation – The building itself is a very active location and the installation of each door was within the internal stairwells. To ensure that the installation of the doors did not cause any disruption to the residents of the building we carried out an “out of hours” install, this ensured the seamless project programme was met and met on time.
History – The original Lipton Tea Factory, as it was initially known, was a state-of-the art bacon curing plant — built on the site of a tea storage facility, hence the name. The building now hosts digital startups and creative companies — more than 1,500 people now work in and visit the building every day!
